A £260,000 revamp has bought The Gunners up to date. Keeping in with the Great War theme and no longer a men only establishment, the club now boasts new wooden flooring, vintage decor, a newly revamped function room, USB ports, WiFi, air conditioning and has even had past club members incorporated into the decor.

“The days of clubs are dying and you have to change or go to the wall,” explained Alex Bonallie, club steward. “We’ve been called Sunderland’s best-kept secret.”(Sunderland Echo)
